Have you tip-toed in to using Facebook ads yet? There’s a slew of possibilities when it comes to picking the right Facebook ads for your company, ranging from boosting your posts to sidebar ads to promoting your page. Which is the best option for you and your company? Use these best practices for Facebook ads as a guide to help you as you figure out the best way to make Facebook ads work for you.

Best Practices for Facebook Ads

Typically, here at RedMoxy, we like to focus on organic growth, since that’s the bread and butter of any social media account. Relying on Facebook ads to get you the reach that you can never get on your own is not a good practice – that calls for a revision to your company’s social strategy. However, using Facebook ads for a specific campaign can be highly beneficial.

Have a Specific Time Frame

For example, let’s say you’re having an event at the end of the month, and you want more people to register in advance for it. By all means, run a campaign where the objective is to get people onto your website. Facebook ads will get your information in front of eyes that have never even been on your Facebook page before – and that’s a great, great opportunity. But, have an end that makes sense (in this case, the day of the event) and stick to it.

Or, say you want to increase Page Likes. Promote your page for a specified amount of time. At the end of the campaign, you will have hopefully increased your likes to the point where you don’t need ads to garner a broad enough reach – you’ll be getting it organically.

Use a Strategy

As with any marketing campaign, Facebook ads work best when you have a strategy behind them. Don’t boost posts willy-nilly (even though Facebook makes it so easy to do so!). Instead, boost posts as a part of a larger, comprehensive marketing plan.

Here’s a promoted page example. They’re growing their community on Facebook a little at a time.

Run A/B Testing

Tweak as you go! For me,  A/B testing is fun, because it’s like a mystery that I have to solve – what is the best combination of image and copy for the best possible engagement? Use A/B testing to up the quality of your ads over time.

Measure Your Results

How will you know what works best for your company? The only way you’ll know is if you’re tracking what works and what doesn’t. We like to run reports weekly and tweak our strategy accordingly. You’ll help out the current campaign and you’ll help out the campaigns to come.

If you’re running a Facebook ad right now, it’s not too late to revise your strategy. Facebook allows you to edit at any time, so take advantage. Play around with your ads and see what works! We’re all just experimenting…and taking notes as we go. We’ll continue sharing our notes with you right here.
