When it comes to the work week, things can get very chaotic, very quickly. Before you know it, piles of work will build, issues arise, meetings take place, and there are a million and one questions for your leader to answer. This makes it all the more important to plan ahead for your work week. There are many areas that need attention to detail in order to make your week run efficiently and effectively. We’ve developed a checklist of the top 5 things to address when organizing your team.

1.Set Goals

The plan for your work week should begin with an attainable goal. Look at your annual or overreaching company goals, and break it down into 2 or 3 attainable ones for the week ahead. Be sure to make these goals visible for your employees.

2. Make a Schedule

Planning ahead is extremely important. It is more than likely that new work or unexpected tasks will arise throughout the week. In order to address them, it is vital to have a solid plan or foundation to ensure that both new and old tasks are being completed in a timely manner.

Clean out your mailbox immediately as influxes of new tasks and priorities will soon fill your inbox. One of the best tools to stay on track is to delete and repeat. Once you finish the task at hand, remove it from your list and move on to the next.

4.  Implement Time Management

Isn’t this the same as scheduling? Not exactly. Scheduling is definitely a component of time management, however, it is additionally necessary to prioritize your to do list. Generate an estimated deadline for your projects. It will help you stay focused and motivated.

5. Stay Positive!

From start to finish, keep a positive attitude. It will not only help to motivate your team, but yourself as well. Start your Monday with a great cup of Joe, a smile, and the confidence of your organized plan already set into place to tackle the week ahead with success!
