Top Industry Resources for Marketers
It’s not simply enough to work in the marketing industry – you, in order to stay relevant – must learn in the marketing industry. It’s one of the things I like best about working in marketing. The industry moves so far that not learning and adapting is not an option.
Making time for professional development is an important part of any marketer’s life. But, maybe (if you’re like me) you don’t have time to attend social media, public relations, graphic design, and etc. conferences each month. After all, your clients do come first (it’s a precarious balance, isn’t it?). That’s why I’ve curated a list of places that I go to when I don’t have time to do much professional development, but want to stay in the loop. Keep on reading for the top industry resources for marketers.
Top Industry Resources for Marketers
1. Moz
Hands down, the Moz blog is the best resource for all things SEO related. Even if SEO isn’t your main game, it’s good to at least have a working knowledge of what’s going on. The blog topics range from very advanced to intermediate, so click around to find the posts that best suit you.
2. HubSpot
HubSpot has three different blogs, and all of them are valuable in one way or another. Click here to check out the Marketing, Sales and Agency blogs. I use HubSpot to stay on top of Inbound Marketing in general, but especially on best practices for CTAs, offers and email newsletters. To stay on top of social trends, I tend to use…
3. Hootsuite
After all, Hootsuite only deals in social. As I clicked over to grab the link for this blog post right here, I noticed a blog titled “125+ Essential Social Media Statistics Every Marketer Should Know in 2016.” I mean, how great is that? Perfect fodder for throwing up on your website, blogging about, sharing on social, using to convince potential clients…
If you just want to check out the blog itself, click here.
4. PSFK
I recommend subscribing to a newsletter here. I get a daily morning email catching me up on quirky design and innovation news. You’ll see what I mean when you click here.
5. Shift Communications
This is another great site for the resources on its blog. But, even more so, I recommend signing up for the newsletter “Shift Happens.” It comes once a week, on Wednesdays, and not only gives a CliffNotes version of their blogs, but also of worldwide industry happenings. Sign up for it here. If I don’t have time to look into all the other resources I’ve listed above, I at least skim the Shift newsletter.
There you have it – my Top 5. Do you have any resources you would add to the list? Let me know if the comments below.
