If you’re a brick-and-mortar business, you know that local SEO can play a gigantic role in the success of your company. Do you know if you’re doing local SEO in the right way? Today we’ll walk you through what you should know about local SEO – and – lucky for you, a number of them are easy to implement. You’ll be well on your way to local SEO success by the time you finish reading this blog post.

What you should know about local SEO

1. Make sure your name, address and phone number are correct everywhere.

This one seems obvious, but you’d be surprised by the number of companies missing out on all local SEO can do because they forgot to update their Yelp account with the new website URL.

Name, address and phone (NAP) services exists all over the place (it’s one of the services we provide, too), but, if you have the time, you can do the grunt work yourself. All you have to do is manually go to each website on which your business is listed (think Yelp, Google, Yellowpages, etc.) and make sure all the information is completely accurate. If it’s not, change it. You should have the access to change it already, but if you don’t, you can tell the site that you’re the business owner, and it’ll walk you through the next steps.

2. Verify your business on Google.

Google, if you didn’t know, is a major player in the SEO world. Show them that you’re an active, functioning business by verifying your business and filling out information like hours of operation, location, etc.

3. Start getting reviews from your customers.

You’ll really notice an uptick in your local SEO rankings when you start receiving quality reviews from your customers. We went through an example for a business in Waukesha, Wisconsin in this blog post, but the philosophy applies in every city.
